Priced at only £49.90 this is the bigger brother of Eyes Go other new action camera, [[ASIN:B01LHDSANW Eyes GO 2 LEGEND – 12MP – + 31 accessoires inclus dont 7 coques de couleur livrées – Marque française – FULL HD 1080p – Camera sport – Boîtier étanche 30 mètres – Écran LCD 1,5 pouces – WIFI – Applications ANDROID – APP STORE]], the main difference being the higher resolution of this the dearer model.
My unboxing video shows that you certainly get a lot for your money. The packaging used is simple and attractive and shows the product off nicely. My camera came with a decent array of no less than 33 mounts, clips and fixing kits of all shapes and sizes but with o sign of the buoyancy tank mention in the product listing. All the basic mounts you need are included as well as quite a few more but it is a pity no SD card could have been included. They are cheap enough these days and to do this would not add y greatly to the cost and would allow the camera to be used straight from the box. It comes with a range of clip-on facades to allow the front plate of the camera to be changed but these are not mentioned in the User guide and I was uncertain how to use them but even if I figured it out I doubt I was ever use them. It has wifi, which allows live streaming from the camera hotspot but having tried this with other cameras it is a novelty that quickly wears off.
The camera was clearly designed for the French speaking market and the main User Guide is in French only despite having a Union flag on the cover. The second User Guide is in English. This is well printed and easy to read but explains only the basics about the how to operate the action cam but shows with pictures how the included accessories are attached. I attach a copy of it to my unboxing video. Run the video full frame and pause when needed to read it. When I am more familiar with using the camera I will update my video with MB footage.
The camera itself is well made and feels like a quality piece of kit.. Video quality is just fine, within the limitations of the camera resolution. The 173° angle of view is slightly wider than that of the cheaper model great but with the barrel distortion common to all cameras of this type. There was a time when this would have been seen as a high end camera and now standards are moving higher even in the budget market. This camera does a perfectly decent quality FHD (1920 x 1080 ) at up to 60fps. If you drop the resolution to 720p you can get as high as 120fps. The Amazon product page says it has 4K resolution at just 15fps (although the User Guide claims 30fps at 4k) this is really not going to be much use to most users. We are told it is waterproof to 30M, which is good, but there is no mention if this means it is rated IP68 or what. For serious underwater use this is an important omission. It does support several slow motion speeds and has Car Mode with recording loops.
On balance I would say this is an decent buy for the money and at the budget price of just under £40 price it is not too dear. Stars would be knocked off had the price been much higher however due to doubts about the build quality of the accessories and the limited functions. I would expect to see this price fall again as better specced cameras enter the market.
This is a decent quality mid range action cam and a distinct step up from the lower priced sibling. It supports 4K, slow motion and Car Mode as well as 16MB still pictures. It comes with a good range of accessories and at the current price although not a bargain is not a bad buy indeed.
