This attractively presented new lightbox from PNBO comes with a starter set of A4 tracing paper sheets and a rather lightweight Drawing glove. It has a UK plug and is ready to use straight from the box.
Build quality seems fine. The pad feels well made and robust and I do not feel any give when I press down on the tracing surface. The pad is thick enough to feel substantial but not so thick as to be bulky or awkward to use. The UK power adapter plugs into the side of the unit with a bright blue LED to indicate status. The hard wired cable is rather short at just 1.5m and I would have preferred one of 2m at least. At the top left of the panel are the three capacitive buttons for Off/On brightness Up and Brightness Down. I found the buttons to be a bit sticky and erratic in use but it may be I had a rogue device. Once it settled down it was find and the memory feature meant the brightness level was restored to the last one used when the device was turned on. The screen colour temperature is between 10000 to 120000K and looks bright and clear with good even illumination even when scaled down. Variable brightness is an important feature when working with originals of different densities and translucence.
Rival devices can cost very much more than this entry level device and for the current price of £42,99, discounted we are told from £69.99 it represents a very decent buy.
