COMISO Nature Audio Bamboo Wood Speaker

Often I find items like this, high quality products that may get overlooked because they do not have a prestigious name on the box. This high quality, superbly well made speaker from COMISO is just such an item and what a shame it would be if it went unheard.

Unlike most products of this quality it arrived simply but adequately packaged in a rather simple mid market cardboard box with shaped foam padding within. These are high quality speaker and deserves to be presented as such. The packaging used although it protected the speaker perfectly well did not give the impression of a high end product and might reduce the appeal of the device as a gift.

Inside of the box which was the speaker itself, a short USB to micro-USB charging cable, a mini-jack to mini-jack speaker cable, a waterproof carry bag, and a well written and easy to read User Guide in good English. I append a copy of the User Guide to my unboxing video

The speaker is unlike any other I have tested in appearance with a bamboo wood body and a type of thick fabric binding which is itself unusual and distinctive.. On the top is the control panel, which features the usual volume controls and track controls and the button layout is otherwise pretty standard for this type of Bluetooth speaker. On the rear is a port bay featuring and Aux audio input, micro-USB charging port, battery/charging status LED and reset button. On the front hidden behind the speaker cloth is the single microphone which allows the device to be used to receive calls.

It was quick and easy to pair the phone to my Android phone and once connected the link seem fast and stable and it later reconnected automatically without incident. We are nowhere told which Bluetooth version the device supports although I suspect an older one as there are no voice status prompts but just the traditional LED’s and bleeps. There is no NFC option nor can the device connect to two Bluetooth devices at once. Like with many other Bluetooth speakers of this type it is not possible to use the speaker whilst it is charging,a minor but annoying drawback.

The sound quality as I expected it to be is first rate for the small size with plenty of volume and good powerful bass. Sound quality is certainly a main selling point of this unit and here it really does excel although I was disappointed to see it does not feature the latest Bluetooth aptX technology.

The device is charged via a micro-USB port on the rear panel where an LED indicates the battery and charging status. Perhaps due to the rather small 2600mAh battery there is no power out port to allow the device to charge or power external devices, This is a pity as many similar devices offer this as they do a built in FM radio which again is missing here.

I was put off at first due to the high price and lack of advanced features which can be found in many less expensive similar sized devices but in the end decided the first rate audio , superb build quality and unusual design overrode these failings and made the device still worth full endorsement The current price of £75.99 is in my opinion too high but hopefully it should soon drop to a more realistic level.
