I have yet to try a bad Tefal product and this one does not disappoint.
The device consists of a plastic water bowl with integral 900w heating element controlled by a single rotary dial with a water level gauge next to it. There are two stainless steel steaming bowls and a small plastic rice tray is included along with a glass lid. A decemt quality User Guide with sample menus is also included. The steamer is controlled by a timer with an LED light for status confirmation and a loud mechanical bell to indicate the end of the cooking time at which point the device will automatically power down. It will switch off too if it detects the water bowl is empty. The metal trays and rice bowl can be fitted inside one another to reduce storage size but even so the device is quite bulky in size.
Using the unit is easy enough although cooking times are longer than in a conventional oven or microwave and the suggested cooking times are often found to be too short. To use just fill the heating bowl to the required level, set the timer and go and it is easy enough to change the timer setting during the cooking process.
This is an excellent quality steamer. It works well, is easy to use and is built to the high standard expected from tefal. At nearly £55 it is not inexpensive and there are plenty of cheaper rivals available but as with most things in this life, you get what you pay for.
