£1.69 plus 10p shipping. How can they do it for that?
This little device measures the tread depth on your tyres to keep you legal and safe when on the road.
The legal tyre tread depth for cars in the UK and Europe is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre. The tread must meet this minimum requirement across its complete circumference. However, most driving organisations recommend a minimum tread depth of 3mm for tyre replacement.
The gauge arrived simply presented in a blister pack with no instructions included as I assume none are needed as it is pretty obvious how to use it. It comes with a lifetime guarantee which I doubt they often have to honour as there is nothing that can go wrong with so simple a tool and in any case how many people would bother with it to get their £1.69 back?
It really could not be any simpler to use. Just press the metal end of the gauge into the tyre tread groove and read off the depth from the scale either in mm or 32’s of an inch within the range 1-25mm.
This little instrument can keep you safe and legal and can save you money by checking and replacing worn tyres before the car goes in for a service to save on main dealer prices.
£1.69 well spent.
