In the garage or workshop a way of accurately measuring objects is often needed and this simple to use Vernier Caliper can do this.
The device arrived nicely presented in branded cardboard box inside of which was the Vernier Caliper itself, a
CR2032 Battery and a well printed and easy to read multi language User Guide. Build quality seems fine with the device made from good quality but lightweight plastic. The unit extends to measure lengths of up to 150mm and features a larger than normal easy to read non backlit LCD screen. On the front below the LCD screen are the three control buttons to select Metric/Imperial, On/Off, Reset to zero. As the unit opens the depth bar extends to allow interior distances to be measured.
The device can measure in four different ways: internal, external, step and depth. The track moves smoothly when in operation but there is no way to lock the unit in place to hold a distance. That said, this is still one of the easiest calipers I have used and the LCD display is large and easy to see although it does lack a backlight. The unit can quickly switch from Metric to Imperial units and be reset to zero at the touch of a button.
For just £7.99 this caliper is rather a good buy and is a worthwhile advance on my older and rather more cheaply made model. I would have been happier to pay a bit more for a hard case to protect the rather delicate device but even so this is a worthwhile purchase and would be a useful addition to the workshop or garage.
