This new multi-purpose hub from VAKO should go some way to fulfilling the needs of owners of modern USB-C equipped devices. This 9 port hub will allow your compatible USB-C device to do, read and play just about anything. Take note, however, that not all USB-C devices are fully compatible so do some research first before buying.
The hub arrived presented in a simple low-end box inside of which was just the hub itself and a well written and nicely printed User Guide.
The surprisingly compact hub sport a full range of ports and interfaces including a USB-C 100w power port (not suitable for data), SD and micro-SD cards, three high-speed USB 3.0 ports which can handle data at up to 5Gbps, and one USB 2 port optimised for RF devices. It also has VGA and HDMI ports and it is possible to run up to two connected monitors at full HD@60hz with higher resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 available when using just the HDMI port. It features both SD and micro-SD card ports, although these cannot be used simultaneously.
Build quality is excellent with the device itself made from robust aluminium alloy. The User Guide is well written and comprehensive and should be studied before use or purchase, I have a scan of it at the end of this video. If I had a gripe it is that the USB-C cable is hard wired to the hub, for me a USB-C in port and a short USB-C to USB-C cable might have been better. But certainly, I have no major criticism of this otherwise excellent little unit.
At £39.09 this is not a cheap piece of kit, although priced below many similar rivals. However, this is something of a niche item and for those that need it and can get the best from it, it is it is a very decent buy..
